Tapped

The idea of the unconscious mind was made popular by Sigmund Freud and was later visually explored in depth by the Surrealist art movement. This zine, “Tapped,” explores the unconscious mind of a creative (me) through the creation of handmade visuals using the Surrealist technique of automatism. Automatism encourages the artist to express themself freely, without conscious thought. I used paint, tape, paper, ink, and found objects which I then digitally manipulated and paired with Andre Breton’s 1924 Surrealist Manifesto.
